Investinspain says: Many international airlines offer regular scheduled services to Malaga, as well as numerous charter companies. The Spanish state owned national airline, Iberia is
Spain's major international carrier. Although not rated as one of the world's best airlines, it has an excellent safety record and its standard of service has improved considerably in recent years. Its fares have also become more competitive, although like most European carriers, it still makes huge losses.
If you're unable to get a direct flight to Spain, it's usually advisable to fly via London from where there are daily flights to airports throughout Spain. Fares on scheduled flights to and from Spain have fallen in recent years due to increased competition, although they are still high compared with charter fares. Increased competition from airlines such as Air Europa has forced Iberia to reduce its national fares.
Charter Flights
Cheap charter flights to Spain, including Malaga, are common from many European countries, particularly Britain, Germany and Scandanavia. The cheapest Spanish destination from Britain is Malaga with fares as low as 50 Euro one way. If you're travelling from Britain to the Western Costa del Sol or the Costa de la Luz, you can also fly via Gibraltar or Jerez, fares are similar to flights to Malaga.
It's worth shopping around for the best price, however be warned that charter flights do tend to suffer greater delays than Schedule flights. As a general rule, the further in advance you buy your ticket, the cheaper it will be. Charter flights are non transferable and it is prohibited to use a ticket issued to someone else. Andalucia is an easy place to fly to. Additional security has not caused delays at Andalucian airports.
